We're officially unschooling, 100% yes, full steam ahead, wooo! And feeling super happy about it at last, with no more niggling doubts or insecurities. What a relief, to just be able to let go of all the anxious ''What if''s and continue on, living and learning as we already are! I've been fairly convinced unschooling was the right road for us since my son (now 4) was an infant, but I've been up and down about the whole thing over the years, with other people getting into my head aswell as having to deschool myself regarding my misconceptions of what learning is.
Anyway, I'm finally at a point now I'm feeling excited and thankful to be avoiding the stressful school deal. Reading Rue Kream's book recently helped me simplify things. Do you and your child want to stay together? Yes? Then that's all you really need to unschool. Stop stressing, the rest will come naturally.
I told my Mum yesterday, and she's very supportive so that's good! Not necessary but it all helps of course. Now it's all about building community, there is a local homeschooling group but hardly any unschoolers, so that's my next project, funneling some time and energy intos spreading the natural learning word and getting a group happening.
Just wanted to share my :eager:eager:eager.
