Silkworm moths

We loved our silkworms, and now we've been enjoying watching moths emerge from cocoons.

Wow! Where did you get the silkworms from?

Botanic Gardens playgroup. We have masses of them, now laying hundreds of eggs each. They are quite amazing to watch. They are used to human handling (over a couple of thousand years, I think) and apparently they cant survive if left on a tree.

We didn't have the heart to kill any moths in the cocoons (to keep them intact to unravel the silk) but even without the silk thread at the end, it's really amazing.
