My child has autism and I'm thinking of registering us as homeschoolers. Has anyone else with a child who has ASD or other issues registered? Were you required to do anything special with it? Or did you not tell them? He's high functioning but wouldn't stand up to particularly questioning by the person appointed to come and check us out. He doesn't have a great grasp of spontaneous language and sometimes answers questions quite cryptically by adapting his echolaic speech. So I understand him but others don't and he has quite a few coping mechanisms to deal with questions he doesn't understand by trying to cover up that he doesn't understand.

Anyone else have a child with a disability and is registered? For personal reasons I cannot give publicly we probably don't have a choice about registering hence this anonymous post so while that's my personal preference, we can't go there.

Thanks. :)

I didn't think the child had to be there for the Authorised Person's visit -- not sure if this differs between states.

The NSW application form includes this note: "If there are any educational issues you would like to discuss with the Authorised Person or if your child has any special needs, please attach a note with details."

Bear in mind that they are there to assess YOU - the curriculum you've set, the learning environment etc.. they aren't there to assess the child or their learning. Beyond that I don't know if there is anything specific.
Generally speaking (in schools) a curriculum for a child with autism covers broad areas such as independent living skills, personal care skills etc so you may want to take that into account in your curriculum.
