What do you think? The water here in Adelaide is chock full of fluoride and chlorine so I don't like my DS drinking too much of it. Water filters don't remove fluoride unfortunately. It's a bit of a health / environment conundrum!

Rainwater is the answer there then. I think everyone should have rainwater tanks. All new houses built should have enough rainwater storage to collect pretty much all of what falls on their roofs.
I love The Story of Stuff. Thanks for posting it.

Rainwater tanks are the plan, but I need non-leaky gutters first. I actually got a rainwater tank from freecycle recently but it's only good for watering fruit trees as it has a fair bit of rust and gunk.

Our (rented) house was built right before the houses-must-have-rainwater-tanks rule was brought in. Very annoying.

The reverse osmosis filters remove fluoride and I think they have come down in cost a lot since we purchased ours.
I've been looking at the shower filters recently and I think that's probably going to be our next purchase.

Yep, Jo-ma, reverse osmosis all the way. You can get the undersink filters or we have a cheaper option hooked up to the laundry taps and we fill our earn.
We used to drink our rainwater till the taps in the laundry went out to lunch, and I don't know what DH did, but he says it's all sludge coming out of that tap now. :( So we're filtering our tap water with a Brita jug until we can work out what to do. Puratap maybe.
