This question has probably been asked a million times, but right now I don't have a huge amount of time to sift through all of the threads on here (sorry!)

We have made the decision to homeschool (after much discussion in the last few days) but now that we have made that decision, what on earth do we do now?

Our eldest is currently in Prep at a state school, so i'm not sure what we actually need to do/say to the school now. Do we go up to the school and say 'we are removing him from school to homeschool' or make up a story (no idea what mind you lol) or what?

Also, he is still 5, turns 6 in August and we live in QLD. Do we HAVE to register? What happens if we don't register? Do we have until he is 6.5 to register or have I understood that wrong?

Any help would be great!!

Here's the info thread for QLD registration. Depending whether your child is compulsory schooling age or not the school may want to get involved in ensuring that someone is taking care of their education by passing your name on to the education department. If your child is below the age of compulsory schooling you should be able to just leave without a reason.

We're in Queensland and have done both private to leave to h/e and public to h/e. We've never registered and haven't had a prob...first time we were out for 2 years then in for 2 terms and now out again for 3 years Just don't insult them or the school and you shouldn't have any issues. Also, unless you're in a small country town they probably won't even know or care.

You have until 6.5 to register in QLD. We're registering at the start of next year, my eldest turns 6 in August too. Because your DS has been in the system you may get interference, not sure!

Schools can be nosy about this stuff but that info is great. :)
