Where's your faith in your son :rofl
My kids are growing parsley and radishes atm, the latter are great for kids because they germinate in a day or two.

its not faith in him that is lacking, it is faith in my green thumb! He won't forget to water them or anything, given it gives him an excuse to use his watering can!
Lol, well please keep us updated. And photos please!

When I was doing my organic gardening course, they said you can use radish seeds to test that the soil is ready to plant, too. Radishes have pretty much a 100% germination rate, so if you don't get as many seedlings as seeds (or at least 90%), the soil needs work. Also great for kids because they are edible in such a short time, so they don't get bored waiting.

umm, you'll have to use your imaginations for the visual! Imagine an empty rectangular planter, a very dirty ladle that has been used as a spade and lovely patterns of dirt in the grass. Yep, the urge to dig was bigger than the urge to grow his own vegies :lol Came home from work and it was all over...

I got my daughter some seeds (she wanted chives) and let her plant them ... she planted three :rofl (we're living high on the chive hog here I assure you!)
