I want to learn how to knit, any tips for me? What's the easiest thing to knit for a first-timer? I have 4mm knitting needles and some 8ply acrylic. If anyone in Bris is willing to teach me that would be great :D

I'm seriously lacking the craft gene, but I'd start with knitting squares and then stitching them together to make a blanket. At least each square is easy to start and finish, nothing tricky like counting stitches or cuffs or seams.

Yeah what she said. Just start with a plain old garter stitch and knit some squares or a scarf. I found it easiest sitting next to someone else knitting (Mum)and then asking for help as I went. I've been able to pass on the skill in the same way, and its lots of fun to sit around knitting together :)

I had to learn to crochet just recently. I found crochet pretty easy to learn, but I'll have to keep practicing to get good at it. I just googled and found some fairly good instructional pages. I had to crochet a couple of doll wigs and managed to figure it out to do the job well enough.
