A schoolboy in the Egyptian coastal city of Alexandria has died after his teacher hit him for not doing his homework, a security official said.
Police charged maths teacher Haitham Nabil Abdel Hamid with manslaughter after his students said they witnessed him kick 11-year-old student Amro Badr in the stomach on Monday, the official said.
Badr fainted and died shortly after in hospital. Doctors have not yet announced the cause of death.
Abdel Hamid denies he kicked the student.
