Got any?
I just noticed after doing some gardening it covers all the subject areas that I'm keeping a basic week summary on for record keeping.
Language Arts
Reading backs of seed packets
Gardening books
Permaculture blog
Mathematics
Counting out seeds and young seedlings
Dividing up space in garden bed
Timing water soaks
Health & Physical Learning
Running
Organic vegie growing vs conventional vegie growing
First aid care for toe smashed with rock and finger hit by shovel
Society & Environmental Studies
Observed vegie plants growing in the neighbour’s backyard and looked them up in a book
Talked with Paul from next door about how to grow “left over pineapple”
Prepared pineapple head and space in garden bed to plant it
Followed green ant trail back to their nest
Science & Technology
Examined worms and soil
Smashed rocks to look at the patterns inside them
The Arts
Body painting with "paint rocks" found in garden. Grind them up on another harder rock and mix with water. Viola, body paint!
Making garden area look asethetically pleasing
Languages Other Than English
Used Signed English in interactions from across the yard
Looked up vegies from other cultures to plant and observed different names for the same vegie
Life Skills
Digging skills with shovels and hand hoe
Yard and garden maintenance
Co-operation and teamwork
